the sketchbook project 2013

SP-13-12

Once again this year, I’ve decided to participate in The Sketchbook Project. I think it’s a great way to get myself to keep drawing. This year (my third! year), I was inspired by some vintage magazines from the ’40s and ’50s given to me from my mother. I’ve been drawing portraits from these magazines as practice. Obviously not all of them turn out to be masterpieces but you learn from your mistakes, right?!

  1. Hi LIsa – so beautiful and so much like my mother’s style. Her history was commercial and had full albums of runway fashion. – faces like yours and figures like Vargas and all watercoloured – wish I knew where her work disappeared to after she passed away in 1970. Thanks for the reflection!
