the sketchbook project

SP-13-cover

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday. I took a break over the holidays and didn’t draw a single thing! Well, I would have but I forgot the pen for my tablet when packing. Duh!

Anyway, I’m back at it and finished off my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project. For some reason, there were less themes this year, so I just went with the “sketchbook” theme. Boooring, I know, but I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it.

Well, I’m very pleased with how the cover turned out even though it was really hard to draw on. It’s like a recycled cardboard cardstock. It’s really porous and I had lots of problems trying to get the white conté to “stick”. I do like the effect however and I plan of doing some more drawings on coloured cardstock. Just better quality cardstock, of course.

So, off to Brooklyn for this baby. It’s coming back to Toronto on tour though from June 7–9 at the Gladstone Hotel. I checked out some sketchbooks from the last tour and you definitely need to go check them out if the tour comes to a city near you.

I’m so glad that I’m able to take part in such an interesting project with participants from all over the world. And I can’t wait to see more sketchbooks when the tour comes to town. Maybe I’ll see one of yours?
